<mailto> added by Outlook (2013) Autoformat is not rendered properly in Google Calendar

Hi,

I added an email ID in the meeting body, Outlook made it a hyperlink automatically. But when I sent to a Gmail account and viewed in Google Calendar, the whole meeting body content was underlined (Image 1). I found that its the <mailto> that's added by Outlook causing the problem. Outlook adding it as <mailto: someone@somedomain.com> (Image 2). I seen this with Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016. This doesn't happened when I tried in Outlook 2010. Looks like something changed recently (maybe in AutoFormat()) and causing this problem. I have attached screenshots for the reference. I have the latest update to Outlook 2013. Somebody faced the same issue? Is there a workaround for this?

Exact Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. In Outlook 2013, create a new meeting and in the meeting body, include some email ID followed by some text. This will automatically get hyperlinked (mailto) by Outlook.

2. Send this meeting to some Gmail Account.

3. At the recipient side, see the meeting item in Google Calendar.

4. You can see that whole meeting body text as underlined.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Prasad,

I can reproduce the same issue by sending an email to a Google Calendar. Based on my research, I'm afraid there is no workaround for this issue now.

I also did a test by sending a meeting to my Outlook.com calendar. The body text was not been underlined, but it also showed like this: <mailto:someone@domain.com> when viewing within in Outlook.com calendar.

I'll submit a feedback regarding this issue through internal way. Hope this behavior can be changed in future release.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

it also showed like this: <mailto:someone@domain.com> when viewing within in Outlook.com calendar.

That is expected since the Outlook.com Calendar doesn't support text formatting and the link could have been lost (because you can also hyperlink the words "email me").

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply.

Is there a possibility that this will get addressed in next Office update?

Thanks
